IAFTC Conference 2026: Advancing Aquatic Therapy and Adaptive Aquatics

We had a fantastic week in Palm Harbor, Florida at the IAFTC 2026 Conference. The event brought together aquatic therapists and aquatic fitness instructors from around the world, creating an inspiring space for learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience in therapeutic aquatic programming.
One of the most powerful aspects of the conference was the global turnout of professionals dedicated to advancing aquatic therapy, adaptive aquatics, and inclusive water-based programming.
It was energizing to connect, share ideas, and experience the impactful work being done in the field.
Presenting on Aquatic Therapy and Autism
During the conference, we had the opportunity to present a specialty workshop on Aquatic Therapy and Exercise for Autism. This session combined both classroom learning and in-water application, featuring real-life case studies and practical strategies for supporting individuals with autism in aquatic environments.
The excitement and engagement from participants were incredible. Being able to demonstrate techniques in the water and immediately translate them into practice made for a dynamic and meaningful learning experience.

We were also thrilled to reconnect with members of our Adaptive Swim Whisperers community, including professionals from:
- Monterey Aquatic Therapy
- Serenity Swimming
- Fidalgo Pools
- Specialty Aquatics
Seeing this network of practitioners continue to grow and collaborate was a highlight of the week.
Connecting in the Exhibit Hall

The IAFTC exhibit hall and marketplace provided valuable opportunities to connect with innovative organizations and leaders in the field. We were grateful to meet and speak with representatives from:
These conversations highlighted exciting advancements in adaptive equipment, aquatic therapy and exercise tools, that continue to shape our work in the pool.
Learning, Collaboration, and Global Connection
Beyond our own presentation, we had the privilege of learning from outstanding presenters and practitioners from around the world. The exchange of knowledge, techniques, and experiences reinforced the importance of global collaboration in advancing adaptive aquatics and aquatic therapy practices.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to share, learn, and grow alongside such a passionate community.
Bringing Innovation Back to Our Pools
We return from IAFTC 2026 inspired and energized, ready to integrate new techniques, ideas, and approaches into our programs. As always, our commitment remains the same: to continue improving outcomes for the individuals we serve through adaptive aquatics, aquatic therapy, and inclusive swim instruction.
We look forward to continuing this important work and expanding the impact of what is possible in the water.
