These courses are amazing. I have been an OT for 32 years and an aquatics therapist for 18 years. The amount of information, new ideas, road block explanations, and case demos are so helpful. I had a handful of treatment ideas and approaches before the Course, afterwards I have two suitcases! Can’t wait to see what level 3 and 4 have to offer.

I enjoyed the course. Even more great ideas and activities to use in the water with many different individuals with all different abilities. I learned even more reflex integration ax that I can use in my pool sessions. I am excited to continue my journey through the next 2 levels and with other online classes.

The roadblock related to “Sensory Challenges” provided the most beneficial information, as it offered effective strategies for helping swimmers overcome sensory overload in the water. This course was incredibly insightful and well-structured, offering practical techniques that are immediately applicable to teaching. I appreciated the clear explanations and the focus on understanding individual needs to promote success in the water. Overall, this was a fantastic course that I highly recommend to others in the field.

This course was incredibly insightful and well-structured, providing me with tools to support swimmers with exceptional needs better. The balance of theory and practical applications was very effective, and I now feel more confident in tailoring my approach to each swimmer’s unique needs. The resources and techniques shared have already positively impacted my teaching style.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about how to work with children in these circumstances, and I am excited to test out these strategies I learned. Having a little previous knowledge about children with autism, I was curious to enhance my knowledge about other conditions. This course was super helpful to me, and I am so glad I took the opportunity to take it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Level 2 was great, loved the real swimmers and what they shared, their real families plus the instructors views into swimming advantages and roadblocks. Personal and relevant from several perspectives. I love your courses.

Suggestions for water intake of mouth with real solutions was great. I do work as a Behavior Health Professional in an elementary school and so I am on a campus with approximately 1,000 students both gen ed and ESE. And with that your therapeutic insight was phenomenal.

Comprehensive-relevant, informative, practical, applicable content with excellent video discussions, and demonstrations. Found the video case study lessons’ pace and variety of activities, playful yet a serious approach to survival, safety, life skills acquisition to be immediately applicable to any/all populations. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, expertise, and experiences so well.

This course was absolutely amazing and educational. There are are lot of things I already use with several of my swimmers but there are others I can’t wait to try out. Don’t be afraid to allow kids to wear headphones to get from one area to another. There is a girl who swims at the YMCA I work at who is nonverbal autistic and blind. She swims with her headphones on and does a wonderful job doing so.

I really liked the tricks in all the cases because not only is it good for special needs you can adapt them to regular classes as well. I will be using this course to implement a ton of new ideas into our lesson plans.

I particularly enjoyed the Mommy and Me class case study as a different point of view for an instructor. Even though I have mostly only taught adapted aquatics lessons within the last ten years, these case studies help remind me that it is ok for our adapted aquatics lessons to not look like a typical swim lesson or practice.

I would have to say Level 1 was probably the most beneficial since it was so much new terminology and tools for me as a veteran swim instructor. Level 4 was a great reinforcer and enhancer for me on skills/content that had been provided in previous levels. I loved all the great ideas for innovative programming and the adaptive skills course. As an independent instructor, the techniques of how to handle unpredictable behaviors was extremely beneficial.

It was helpful to learn how the water can support respiration. I am excited to apply that to speech therapy. Totally Treatment provided insight into the benefits of aquatic therapy, treatment methods, and applicable strategies for new aquatic therapists like myself. As a previous swim instructor and current speech-language pathologist, I appreciate the foundations I learned in this course, and I learned there is a lot more to learn about aquatic therapy!

I think all of the roadblocks and the whole program is brilliant. I really love the videos showing actual lessons. This course is incredibly beneficial, and I wish it was offered when I taught swim lessons as a teen over a decade ago.

I enjoyed that each portion was explained in detail and was then followed by examples to help build and solidify the concepts. I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge!

2024-05-22T23:42:48-04:00

This course has already been so beneficial to me as a swim instructor. I have swimmers that have had major breakthroughs now that I am thinking about identifying roadblocks instead of strictly about normal swim progressions. My lessons are better planned out and my swimmers are more engaged now that I have incorporated heavy work and sensory breaks into some of my lessons. I am excited to keep working on the techniques I have learned from Swim Whisperers!

I thought the Totally Treatment course was very informative and I liked that it was online and I could complete it as needed.

– Amanda Keller, Marshall Pediatric Therapy

Each and every roadblock provided useful information that I plan to implement into my teaching. Having been a swim instructor for over 35 years, I was so pleased to find a course that gave me so many new ideas to try with my swimmers. Many of the ideas will not only be used in my adaptive swim classes, but also my school lessons, youth swim teams, adult lessons, and adult team coaching.

I absolutely loved all of the handling techniques. It was super helpful using things you may use on land into the water. I really enjoyed this course and found the information helpful. I love how you talked about sensory integration because I feel as though often times people forget that aquatic therapy is a great sensory treatment as well!

I thought this course was incredibly valuable, well organized, and extremely informative. I am currently finishing up my OTA program and loved how the information I learned in this course reinforced many concepts I have learned in school. I hope to work in aquatics in the future and will be looking into the aquatic therapy courses after graduation!

Thank you so much for providing these trainings and certifications. As an aquatics professional who has previous knowledge and skills in working with special needs children and adults both in water and on land, I very much enjoyed learning the Swim Whisperers methodology. I feel like the Swim Angelfish methodology and techniques will be of service for myself to continue on as well as to help lead and incorporate within my community. I’m looking forward to getting in the water with my community to share my knowledge and better the lives of those around me.

The videos showcasing actual students were very inspiring because it showed you all making an actual impact (the fact that the kids were sweet and adorable didn’t hurt either). Despite not teaching any children with special needs yet, the strategies from this course are helping me to address the same roadblocks in children without them.

– Sophia Wedenig, Palo Alto Family YMCA

2024-05-22T23:40:10-04:00

I would recommend this course to anyone interested in teaching adapted swim. The methodology is relatable and aligns with teaching in the classroom, such as short phrases that are sung to help enhance learning. Also the first, then method. It makes sense that the same methods apply in the pool. I would like to thank you for creating this course and I am excited to see Swim Angelfish methods grow in Austin, Texas!

I am blown away at your level of expertise in this field and commend all your research. This was such a great way for me to feel comfortable doing the things I ‘ve been doing and getting better ideas on how to continue approaching each student individually. I am so grateful for your support and your dedication to elevate this profession as you continue to do.

Yay!!! I am so thankful I was told about your program! This course has opened my eyes to many other benefits to techniques I was already doing during my therapy sessions. I can now take this knowledge and apply it to teach swimmers in a way that they can understand and be successful. And give parents hope!!
