In-Water Workshop: Pediatric Aquatic Therapy
Dive into the application of the techniques learned from our Totally Treatment: Pediatric Aquatic Therapy online training course. This training is designed for therapists to improve handling skills, pacing and progressions of the therapy techniques, and an understanding of how to use the properties of the water to assist you in reaching your therapy goals.
Attendees must have completed the Totally Treatment: Pediatric Aquatic Therapy, 5-hour course. Totally Treatment is the only comprehensive online training created by an OT/ PT team with over 60 years of combined experience working in the water!
What we will cover
We will use interactive exercises to help participants work through handling techniques, uses of various equipment, and hands-on practice with each other. We will show you how, by using the properties of the water in combination with handling and treatment principles, you can make a huge impact with more effective treatment outcomes.
What you will learn
• Pacing of your aquatic therapy session for children on the autism spectrum who are drawn to the water or avoid the water.
• Progressions: How to organize your session with 2-3 activities in a row to improve strength, coordination, endurance, and independence.
• Equipment: practice using a variety of equipment in different ways to work on your therapy goals.
• Understand the science behind sensory techniques in the water.
• Successful ways to handle and facilitate movement for a variety of clients ranging from physical impairments to sensory issues.

Session Details
This is a 4-hour training session featuring a mix of in-water experiential learning as well as land-based knowledge acquisition and discussion.
Registration Pre-Requisite
Participants must have completed the Totally Treatment, 5-hour online course.
Cost
The cost for this training is $325 per attendee.

Session Itinerary
10:00 am -10:45 am: Welcome and introductions
10:45 am – 11:30am: In the classroom to review goals and concepts
11:30 am – 12:30 pm: In-water practice of techniques, treatment progressions, and equipment usage
12:30 pm – 1:15 pm: Possible client demo or case study analysis. Review takeaways, documentation, and programming ideas
1:15 pm – 2:00 pm: Q&A’s and wrap-up
